Spiritual guidance. He will direct his knowledge and his counsel, as he meditates upon God's mysteries. Ben Sira 39:7
The beginning of spiritual life is the fear of the Lord explain to us the master of wisdom Ben Sira: "Whoever fears the LORD will accept his discipline, and whoever searches for him will gain his favor" Ben Sira 32:14. The Bible tells us that whoever penetrates in the mysteries of God with loving fear (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity) receives through Gnosis (inner enlightenment) his counsel and the charism of his spiritual guidance (eternal life). The Bible sets us as an example the three wise men who went to visit and worship the baby Jesus in the manger following a star from the East, and who with the grace of God received the spiritual guide in dreams to avoid all dangers, especially the King Herod who was fearful of a possible and future king, and wanted to kill the child with a trick (Matthew 2:1-12).
God freely grants his spiritual gifts to men, like the gift of wisdom that makes us perfect like God is perfect. And the spiritual gifts are not virtues, the gifts are in the heart of man and they come from the Lord: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows" James 1:17.
That is why we must constantly request God for his spiritual gifts that allow us to find the right path in life, with his guidance: "Earnestly pursue love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts" 1 Corinthians 14:1. In the hands of God are the hearts of men, God from the eternity and in his omnipotence makes wise those who he wants to make wise, and guide those whom he wants to guide: "If it pleases the Lord Almighty, he will be filled with the spirit of understanding. He will pour forth his words of wisdom and in prayer give praise to the Lord. He will direct his knowledge and his counsel, as he meditates upon God's mysteries. He will show the wisdom of what he has learned and glory in the Law of the Lord's covenant." Ben Sira 39:6-8.
