Spiritual mystery: Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given

Spiritual mystery: Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given Spiritual mystery: Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given

Jesus explained to us a spiritual mystery, wisdom has its own language and if we do not live the gift of fear of God we will never have a heart prepared to receive his teachings. The fear of God is constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, and stability.
And this incapacity to understand the lenguage of wisdom, is revealed when the Pharisees asked Jesus about the divorce: "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?" Matthew 19:3. And then Jesus replied that divorce has its origin in the hardness of the heart, which is the opposite of the fear of God.
Then the disciples questioned the marriage to Jesus: "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry" Matthew 19:10.
To which Jesus responded: "´Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to who it has been given´" Matthew 19:11. What Jesus explained to us is that selfishness gives people a very particular perspective of problems, and one of these is coexistence with others. When people live according to the flesh, the logic is very simple, what good we can get from others, regardless of what we give, and this puts us in a situation of constant tension and conflict with others. In this situation, marriage becomes more of a problem than a solution.
On the other hand, when people live according to the spirit, that is, according to the wisdom of God, the conflict with the other, the neighbor, can be approached from another point of view because the neighbor matters, and each person does not work only for his own particular good, but also to balance his good with that of others; there is no longer a "this is yours" or "this is mine", but "everything belongs to everyone".
Jesus finally resolved the discussion by speaking of spiritual eunuchs, that is, of people endowed with the gift of chastity, marriage depends largely on this spiritual gift: "For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 19:12.
