Divination belongs to the prophet: There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him

Divination as art is closely related to the spiritual faculties of intuition and inspiration, divination is not a rational process, for example when we remember dreams, dreams may or may not mean anything, there are no rational rules of interpretation: "Like one grasping at shadows or chasing the wind, so anyone who believes in dreams. What is seen in dreams is a reflection, the likeness of a face looking at itself" Ben Sira 34:2-3. Divination belongs to prophecy explains the Bible.
An example of this in the Bible is the story of how the prophet Daniel interprets a message written on a wall by a mysterious hand in front of King Belshazzar, son of King Nebuchadnezzar. Belshazzar was an impious king, who ruled Babylon and committed all kinds of sacrileges and profanations, the Bible tells us that he did his celebrations with cups stolen from the Jerusalem temple. And during one of his celebrations, a mysterious event occurs: "Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking" Daniel 5:5-6.
The king sends for his astrologers, wise men, and fortune tellers to explain the message written on the wall, but none of them understand. Then the Queen introduces King Baltasar to Daniel with these words: "There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners. He did this because Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve difficult problems" Daniel 5:11-12.
It is then that Daniel appears before the King and inspired by God, explains that this message is a prophecy, his kingdom will fall into the hands of the Medes and Persians. This special ability of the prophet Daniel to solve puzzles and guess correctly, was most likely due to the fact that he united wisdom with a great ingenuity in a very particular way.
