The confidence in God: O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? Matthew 17:17

Jesus heals the sick and expels impure spirits as a sign that the Kingdom of Heaven has come to men, but the disciples who follow Jesus fail to do the same as their master, and Jesus explains that this is due to his lack of faith and confidence, because he who truly believes in the Lord with devotion can be sure that God hears him: "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind" James 1:6.
Jesus knows that his disciples are not filled with the spirit of wisdom, that is why he is patient and knows that the time of his disciples will come when he will not physically with them, only then will they have the confidence necessary to do the same signs he does.
Jesus explains to us that the Kingdom of God requires a progressive and gradual inner transformation of the soul as explains the parable of the leaven and the parable of the sower, things are not achieved at the first attempt. The Gospel of Matthew tells us how Jesus performs a healing of a boy but his disciples cannot: "Lord have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.´ Then Jesus answered and said, ´O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.´ And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ´Why could we not cast it out?´ So Jesus said to them, ´Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ´Move from here to there,´ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.´" Matthew 17:15-21
